2nd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery Regiment
"Mission Ready"

The mission of the 2nd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery Regiment, "Mission Ready," is to, on order, deploy to the designated theater of operations and provide conventional fires as part of the 75th Fires Brigade or in direct support of a contingency headquarters.

Prior to the modular transformation, the mission of the 2nd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery Regiment had been to, on order, deploy to the designated theater of operations and provide conventional fires as part of the 212th Field Artillery Brigade or in direct support of a contingency headquarters.

In 2000, 2-18th Field Artillery (MLRS-Improved Position Determining System) continued to prepare for worldwide deployments. 2-18th Field Artillery deployed its tracks by train to White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and convoyed its wheeled vehicles 700 miles to Fort Bliss, Texas. The 2-18th Field Artillery then concentrated on logistical and tactical METL tasks. In August 2000, A Battery sent a section to fire a Block II Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missile at White Sand Missile Range.

In 2006, III Corps Artillery was inactivated and its subordinate brigades reorganized and redesignated as fires brigades, part of the US Army's modular force structure. The 2nd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery Regiment was subsequently reassigned and became part of the 75th Fires Brigade, which remained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. By that time, the Battalion consisted of a Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 3 combat-ready Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) batteries, and the attached 69th Forward Support Company from the 100th Brigade Support Battalion.
