1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment
The 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment was stood up in mid-2004 as part of the Army's transformation towards a modular force. The unit traces its lineage to the 1st Battalion, 33rd Armored Regiment.
The mission of the 1-33rd Cavalry is to deploy within 36 hours worldwide as part of a joint multinational, or unilateral task force and destroy enemy forces or seize and retain terrain, to control land, people and resources.
As of May 10, 2006 the 1-33rd Cavalry was stationed at Forward Operating Base Rustimayah in Iraq. It continued to serve in the country through 2008.
