Tehran, IRNA -- Yemen's interior ministry says that it has dismantled a spy network allegedly linked to a joint operations room run by the intelligence services of the United States, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, saying the facility was based inside Saudi territory.
In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry said the arrests were the result of extensive investigations, surveillance, and monitoring operations that exposed "enemy plots" and the operational methods of "traitorous elements." It described the discovery as a major security achievement.
According to the ministry, the intelligence network had been collecting information on political leaders as well as military and security commanders, tracking their locations and activities. It added that the spies had received sophisticated surveillance equipment from the joint operations room to monitor any site they were instructed to observe.
The statement said that the creation of the joint intelligence center and the recruitment of numerous spy cells coincided with an escalation of "enemy aggression" against Yemen, to disrupt Yemeni support for Gaza amid the Israeli crimes there.
The ministry said the operations room coordinated sabotage and espionage activities from Saudi territory, establishing several small and independent cells that were all connected to the same command.
It added that the network monitored Yemen's infrastructure and sought to identify military and security structures, weapons production sites, and bases used for launching ballistic missiles and drones deployed by Yemeni forces "against the Israeli enemy."
