U.S. lifts Rosatom American market restrictions
18:00 26/05/2011 WASHINGTON, May 26 (RIA Novosti) - The U.S. Commerce Department has removed the Russian state-run civilian nuclear corporation Rosatom from the list of companies whose activity in the United States was restricted and required special licensing, the department said on Thursday.
Rosatom will no longer be required to get a special license from the U.S. Department of Commerce to cooperate with American companies.
The decision to lift restrictions on Rosatom's work on the U.S. market was made as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation, acknowledging that Rosatom is Russia's chief nuclear power agency, the U.S. Department of Commerce said in a statement.
The U.S. Department of Commerce is currently revising the status of two other Russian companies on the American market, the statement said.
