Principled positions now, in preparing the relevant agreement, are what will ensure the long-term peace after this war. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during the joint press conference with President of France Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris.

The Head of State thanked all partners - and in particular U.S. President Donald Trump - for their constant attention, support, and efforts to bring an end to the war.

Today, the Presidents of Ukraine and France held a joint conversation with European leaders, with the participation of the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Italy, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, the European Commission, the European Council, and the NATO Secretary General. A separate conversation also took place with the head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, U.S. President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

"These are special days, when a great deal can truly change - and change every single day. Yesterday, the Ukrainian delegation held negotiations in the United States. Tomorrow, as we all already know, the Envoy of the President of the United States will be in Russia. We are making every effort to bring this war to an end - and it must be ended with dignity," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

According to the Head of State, active and honest work by Ukraine, Europe, and the United States for the sake of peace and guaranteed security can safeguard the long-term interests of the democratic world.

"Although at times it may seem that everybody is on their own - the United States, Europe - we all equally need security and normal economic development, believe me. And that is our shared interest. And therefore our shared interest is to live without war," the President stressed.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Russia must end the war it alone started, and the joint actions of partners contribute to this.

The Head of State also reported on the consequences of the Russian missile strike on Dnipro. The President of France expressed condolences to Ukrainians who lost their loved ones as a result of this attack. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Russia carries out such strikes every day. It is important to ensure effective protection and reliable security guarantees for Ukraine to prevent a third Russian invasion.

"When we speak about peace, it is absolutely clear that everyone must play their role. Russia must stop its aggression - and so far it has shown no sign of doing so. Ukraine is the only party that can negotiate over territories, because these are its territories, recognized under international law," Emmanuel Macron added.

The President of Ukraine underscored that war must not become a profitable venture, and this is precisely why there are principled stances on sanctions, accountability for war crimes, the legal status of Ukrainian territories currently occupied by Russian forces, Russian assets, and the obligation of reconstruction.

"The stronger the international community's shared positions on these points, the more reliable and lasting peace will be. And this depends not only on Ukraine - it depends on our unified position in Europe and on the position of the United States. It determines not only when this war will end, but also how long the next war will not pose a threat. Principled positions now, in preparing the relevant agreement, are what will ensure the long-term peace after this war," Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded.
