As Japan is attempting to stir up trouble by exploiting the Taiwan question, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are desperately colluding with external forces to create disturbance, making them [DPP authorities] undeniable destroyer of peace in the Taiwan Straits and outright troublemaker, Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Peng Qing'en said on Wednesday, in response to remarks made by head of Taiwan's "external affairs department" Lin Chia-lung, who called the Taiwan people to travel more to Japan and purchase Japanese products, despite the provocative remarks from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi have drawn criticism from all sectors of the island's society.
The Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair and brooks no external interference whatsoever. Should any external force dare to meddle in Taiwan Straits affairs, we will resolutely strike back head-on, the spokesperson stressed.
In response to the Taiwan official's claims that the mainland "military expansion" targets Taiwan region and "all countries" in the "first island chain," Peng said that for the sake of their own selfish political interests, the DPP authorities grovel and pander to external forces, eagerly dusting off the Cold War-era "first island chain" concept and deliberately heightening cross-Straits confrontation and antagonism. And such actions will only plunge Taiwan into the perilous abyss of war and disaster.
