Blue Panorama Airlines signs $370 mln intent letter for SuperJet 100s
17:41 22/06/2011 MOSCOW, June 22 (RIA Novosti) - SuperJet International, which markets the Sukhoi Superjet 100 medium-haul airliner, signed a letter of intent on Wednesday with Italy's Blue Panorama Airlines to sell 12 Superjet 100s for $370 million, SuperJet shareholder Finmeccanica said on Wednesday.
SuperJet International, which is a joint venture between the Sukhoi aircraft maker and Finmeccanica, plans to start export delivery of SSJ-100 airliners at the end of 2012.
The Superjet 100 is a family of medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by Sukhoi in cooperation with U.S. and European aviation corporations, including Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty, Liebherr Aerospace and Honeywell.
The aircraft is capable of carrying 75-98 passengers at a distance of up to 4,400 kilometers.
The first commercially-produced Superjet 100 was handed over to the Armenian airline Armavia on April 19. Russia's Aeroflot has also taken delivery and begun operations with its first Superjet.
