MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) - The United States intends to send rescue equipment to Kamchatka (Russia's Far East) to help rescue the Russian deep-sea vessel trapped underwater with seven crewmembers on board, a spokesman for the Russian Navy said.
"The Russian Navy's Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Vladimir Masorin, spoke on the phone with Admiral Gary Roughead, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet today," Igor Dygalo said, adding that both fleets are analyzing the rescue operation in Berezovaya Bay, 75 kilometers (42 nautical miles) north of Kamchatka.
"According to the U.S. admiral, calculations are being made on whether to support the rescue operation with rescue equipment transported by air or by a U.S. rescue ship that is 3,000 miles from the area," the spokesman said.
