STAVROPOL, April 18 (RIA Novosti) - Stavropol's law enforcement authorities have recently prevented ten terror acts, Governor of the Stavropol Territory Alexander Chernogorov said at a session of the State Duma Commission for Problems of the North Caucasus and Stavropol on Monday.
The governor noted that a commission on combat against terrorism and political, ethnic and religious extremism has operated in the region since 2004.
"The commission's session has already taken decisions on a number of vital issues to provide security for the Stavropol Territory's residents. As a result, law enforcers have recently managed to prevent ten terror acts," the governor said.
The Stavropol Territory, the North Caucasian geopolitical center, is particularly responsible for peace and stability in the region, the official underlined.
In the afternoon members of the State Duma commission held consultations with representatives of the region's law enforcement authorities, the governor's press service reported.
The parties exchanged opinions on problems of security in the North Caucasus, the interlocutor was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.
