CONTROL OVER MAN-PORTABLE AIR-DEFENSE SYSTEMS IS RELIABLE
RIA Novosti
MOSCOW, February 17 (RIA Novosti) - The Airborne Troops' control over man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) which paratroopers use in their exercises is at the high level, Airborne Troops Commander Alexander Kolmakov said at a press conference in Moscow.
"We have reliable control over these systems," he stressed.
Man-portable air-defense systems are one of the key air defense means which we use quite often, Alexander Kolmakov noted.
Earlier Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov spoke about the necessity to boost control over MANPADS because terrorists may seize these weapons.
In late February Russia and the United States will sign an agreement on reinforced control over MANPADS at the summit in Bratislava.
