RIA Novosti
GROZNY, February 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russian special services obtained information indicating that several dozens of foreign mercenaries were preparing to cross the Russian border, announced on Friday officials from the Regional Operative Headquarters on the counter terrorist operation in the North Caucasus (ROH).
"We continue to receive information about a group of foreign mercenaries who are getting ready to cross illegally the Russian border to destabilize the situation in Chechnya," the ROH officials told RIA Novosti.
According to data received from militants detained in the Vedensk district of the Chechen republic, a bandit group with several Arab mercenaries is located near a border pass in the mountainous part of Chechnya, an ROH source reported.
"The operative information indicates that the bandits are waiting for favorable weather conditions to cross the Russian border and move into Chechnya through Daghestan," the ROH officials underlined.
