CIS COMMANDERS TO CONSIDER DEVELOPMENT OF UNITED AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM

MOSCOW, February 8 (RIA Novosti) - Air force and air defense commanders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will consider the development of the system of supervision over the CIS united air defense system in Moscow, spokesman for the Russian Armed Forces Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky told RIA Novosti.

According to him, a drill involving members of the CIS air defense coordination committee began at the basis of the special purpose command post in Moscow at 9.00 a.m. on Tuesday.

In his words, exercises to practice the organization of work and check equipment of the Moscow automated zonal air traffic control center will take place in the afternoon at the center's headquarters in Vnukovo.

"Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, State Duma and Military Academy of the General Staff, research institutions of the Russian Air Force and Russia's military industry will address the participants," Colonel Drobyshevsky reported.

The exercises will be supervised by the Russian air force commander-in-chief, he added.
