Roh, Hu to Seek Way Out of NK Nuke Row

President Roh Moo-hyun will hold summit talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing Monday afternoon to discuss a negotiated way out of the North Korea-U.S. standoff over the communist country's nuclear weapons development.
Also at the top of the agenda will be ways to enhance the economic and trade relations between the countries, Chong Wa Dae officials said. First lady Kwon Yang-sook will leave for the Chinese capital together with Roh for his four-day state visit this morning.
The two heads of state will focus on how to bring the reluctant North Korea to the dialogue table, preferably in a multilateral format, to discuss the nuclear issue during the talks to be held at the National People's Congress building, said Ban Ki-moon, presidential advisor for foreign policy during a briefing.
Roh will extend his gratitude for China's positive role in mediating talks over the North Korean nuclear issue and call for its continued constructive role, he said.
After the 90-minute summit talks, 30 minutes exclusive and 60 minutes extended, Roh and Hu will hold a joint news conference to announce agreements on ways to further develop bilateral relations and ensure stability on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia.
Foreign ministers will sign treaties to promote mutual cooperation in judiciary, science and technology areas.
Roh will meet with Chinese political leaders including Chairman of the National People's Congress Wu Bangguo and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to discuss ways to promote friendly relations between the nations.
He will deliver a speech at Tsinghua University on his vision for Northeast Asia and will engage in dialogue with the students and meet with a group of Korean and Chinese businesspersons to talk about ways to expand trade and investment ties.
Roh is also set to hold an interview with CCTV and visit a Hyundai Motor plant in Beijing.
In Shanghai, Roh will meet with a group of political and business leaders over dinner and visit the Korean Provincial Government building set up during Japan's colonial rule of Korea.
Roh's itinerary also includes a visit to the prospering Pudong district of Shanghai.
The entourage accompanying Roh's visit will include Foreign Affairs-Trade Minister Yoon Young-kwan, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy Yoon Jin-sik, Minister of Information and Communication Chin Dae-je, Minister of Environment Han Myeong-sook, Minister for Trade Hwang Doo-yun, Senior Advisor for National Security Ra Jong-yil and others.
Thirty business figures will accompany Roh including Hyundai Motor chairman Chung Mong-koo, POSCO chairman Lee Ku-taek, Samsung Electronics vice chairman Yoon Jong-yong, SK Group vice chairman Hwang Doo-yul and Daewoo International president Lee Tae-yong.
