Text: Powell To Visit Korea, Japan and China February 21-25
(State Department February 19 press release) (180) Following is the text of a February 19 State Department press release concerning Secretary of State Colin Powell's planned trip to Asia, February 21-25: (begin text) U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE Office of the Spokesman February 19, 2003 STATEMENT BY RICHARD BOUCHER, SPOKESMAN Travel by Secretary of State Colin L. Powell to Asia Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will travel to Seoul to head the U.S. delegation to the February 25 inauguration of Roh Moo-hyun as President of the Republic of Korea. The Secretary will also stop in Japan and China during his February 21-25 trip. He will hold discussions with senior officials in the three capitals on global, regional, and bilateral matters of interest, including Iraq and North Korea. The Secretary will depart on February 21 and will be in Tokyo February 22-23, Beijing February 23-24, and Seoul February 24-25. The Press Office will notify those news organizations being offered a seat under the permanent rotation system.
