Suicide Blast Hits Pakistan Minority Mosque
03.09.2010 11:08
There are reports of several dead and many other casualties after a suicide attacker struck at a mosque belonging to a minority sect in northwest Pakistan.
The attack, which authorities said had killed at least five people, targeted the Ahmadi Mosque in the town of Mardan.
Police said the suicide bomber tried to enter the mosque but was intercepted by security guards and blew himself up.
Religious violence in Pakistan, mostly between majority Sunni Muslims and minority Shi'a, has killed more than 4,000 people in the past decade.
A suicide attack earlier in the week killed 35 people at a Shi'ite ceremony in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore.
