According to Japanese media reports, the Japanese government has decided on a written reply at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, noting that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's earlier claim at a Diet meeting that a "Taiwan contingency" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan "does not mean a change in the government's consistent position." At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, a reporter asked whether China accepts Japan's account that its policy has not changed.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that Japanese authorities have recently mentioned multiple times the Japanese government's "consistent position" or "no change in stance". We have clearly asked Japan: What exactly are the specific contents of its so-called "consistent position"? Can Japan fully and publicly articulate this "consistent position"?

Mao Ning emphasized that while repeatedly invoking the notion of an "unchanged position," Japan has consistently failed to address the essence of the issue. In fact, Japan is deliberately evading China's request to retract its erroneous remarks and attempting to muddle through. This compels the international community to question whether Japan truly possesses the sincerity and resolve to engage in self-reflection and correct its mistakes.
