Jo Myong Rok Meets Chinese Military Delegation

    Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Jo Myong Rok, first vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and director of the KPA General Political Department, today met and had a conversation with the high-level military delegation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army led by Colonel General Xu Caihou, director of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army who is member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and member of its Central Military Commission. Present there were KPA General Pak Jae Gyong, Colonel General Pak Sung Won and other generals and officers, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wu Donghe and military attache Yan Jiangfeng.
    On the occasion the head of the delegation said that the party, government and army of China take a serious view of friendly relations between the two armies and the two peoples.
    Leader Kim Jong Il visited China and President Jiang Zemin visited Korea, which shows the firm will of China and Korea to carry forward the tradition, look forward into the future and strengthen cooperation, he said, and went on:
    The achievements in Korea is the result of the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by Kim Jong Il. Korea is a heroic country and the Korean people are a sagacious and industrious people.
    The Korean people have made successes in the socialist construction in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and working hard under the leadership of Kim Jong Il. The friendly relations between the two armies are developing on good terms.
    The head of the delegation expressed the belief that the people and army of Korea would make greater achievements in the socialist construction and in the defense of the country.
