Narrative and Notes
ReliableMarking the one-year anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, the U.S. Office of Homeland Security raises the U.S. terror alert status up to "Orange," the second-highest of five levels. This is based on intelligence from Omar al-Farouq, a high-level al-Qaida operative detained in southeast Asia. U.S. embassies in the region close, and U.S. forces in Bahrain and elsewhere go on high alert.
