Narrative and Notes (Reliable)U.S. troops entered Fallujah to clear out an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 insurgents using it as a stronghold. The operation was also known as 'Dawn' and 'Phantom Fury.' Fifty-one Americans and 8 friendly Iraqi soldiers were killed.
Narrative and Notes (Questionable)At least 1,200 insurgents were killed, according to U.S. estimates.
