  • Nawaf al-Hazmi was considered second-in-command to Mohamed Atta among the 19 suicide hijackers on Sept. 11. Along with his friend Khalid al-Mihdhar, he was considered one of two veteran al-Qaeda operatives among the 19.
  • He was aboard American Airlines Flight 77 when it crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11.
