In connection with the armed aggression of Russia on the east, in 2014 it was decided to create a new separate operational command. Started a new reform of the Armed Forces the territory of Ukraine decided to divide into 4 military land zones, adding Operational command "East". Approved by Decree # 39 of the President of Ukraine on February 5, 2016. Military land areas are zones of operational command responsibility "North", "South", "West" and "East" territory and include:
  1. Military overland zone "North" - Zhitomir, Kiev, Poltava, Sumy, Cherkasy, Chernihiv regions and in Kyiv;
  2. Military overland zone "South" - Vinnitsa, Kirovograd, Nikolaev, Odessa and Kherson regions;
  3. Military overland zone "West" - Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi regions;
  4. Military overland zone "East" - Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

The land area of some regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions within the military land zone "East" refers to the area of responsibility of Operational Command "East" with the specifications defined by the Law of Ukraine "On special procedure for local governments in parts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions," the statutes of Parliament Rada of Ukraine on March 17, 2015 # 252-VIII "on the determination of individual regions, cities, towns and villages in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which introduced a special procedure for local government" and on March 17, 2015 # 254-VIII "on recognition of individual areas , cities, towns and villages in Donetsk and Lugansk regions temporarily occupied territories. "

A separate military district land - the land territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. The land area of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol belongs to the area of responsibility of operational command "South" with the specifications defined by the Law of Ukraine "On the rights and freedoms of citizens and legal regime in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine."

Overall, 15 combat brigades, a regiment, 5 battalions (divisions) and a brigade, 6 regiments and 11 battalions of operational (combat), logistics and technical support had been established in the Armed Forces from the beginning of the antiterrorist operation in 20154 to the year 2015.

Between 2014 and 2017, a total of a least ten newly formed maneuver brigades [mechanized brigade, etc], four Separate Army Aviation Brigades and one Separate Airborne Brigade had been added to the order of battle. It will be noted that at least four maneuver brigades [mechanized brigade, etc], had been disbanded, along with three aviation regiments, and half a dozen other assorted support brigades.

High-Mobility Assault Forces

In 2015 the organizational structure of High Mobility Assault Forces was changed, airmobile brigade was established, brigadesĺ firing capabilities were built up, their composition included units armed with tanks and self-propelled artillery, the reorganization of airmobile brigades into assault brigades started. By 2016 the Command included three newly formed brigades: 81st and 95th Separate Airborne Brigades, and the 199th Airborne Training Center.

Operational Command North

Territorial management "North" Ś the military district which is part of the army of the armed forces, which was created on the basis of the Northern operational command in accordance with the Directive of the Minister of defence of Ukraine dated April 20, 2005. Troops of the Northern Territory defense OK 7 regions: Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts. The operational command includes the connection and part 8 AK (Army Corps).

Operational Command East

Za┤hýdne operati┤vne combatant (ZahOK) operational unification of the ground forces of the armed forces in the eastern part of the territory of Ukraine (military unit A3750), appears to have been formed in 2015, from the governing bodies of the 6th Panzer Army. The area of responsibility: overland military zone "East" - Zaporizhia , Dnipropetrovsk , Kharkiv , Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The 53rd and 54th Separate Mechanized Brigades were newly formed.

Southern Operational Command

Pývde┤nne operati┤vne combatant (PývdOK) operational unification of the ground forces of the armed forces in the southern part of the territory of Ukraine, which was formed in January 1998 , on the basis of the Odessa military district, which was first mentioned in July 1862. Before July 1, 2006, the composition of the southern operational command consisted of connection and part 6 Army Corps (6 AC). Western Operational Command

Za┤hýdne operati┤vne combatant (ZahOK) operational unification of the ground forces of the armed forces in the western part of the territory of Ukraine, which was formed in January 1998, on the basis of the Red Kiev Carpathian military district, which was formed in July 1945. Troops located on the territory of Western OK 9 areas: Zakarpattia, Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia oblasts. Before July 1, 2006, the composition of the Western operational command consisted of connection and part of the 13th Army Corps (13 K). By 2016 the Command included newly formed units, such as the 10th Separate Mountain-Assault Brigade, 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade , and 128th Separate Guards Mountain Infantry Brigade.
