Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Dharan, Sunsari

Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya was established in 2062 B.S. at Dharan-13, Fushree with the noble aim of importing quality education to the children of Nepalese Army and the civilians. This Mahavidyalaya, like other Mahavidyalayas, serves the students with boarding facilities. Established and financed under the welfare fund of Nepalese Army, SAMD educates the students from grade 4 to 10 at present. Very soon higher secondary level Education is also to be introduced in this Mahavidyalaya. Established with a limited number of students, teaching faculty, supporting non teaching staff and army personnel, now the Mahavidyalaya has been a larger body compared to the past.

The Mahavidyalaya was established with the motto 'Gyanena Paramo Sewa' the objective of the Mahavidyalaya is to facilitate the students with quality education as per the need of time so that they can make a fine contribution in nation building. Although an Army school, this Mahavidyalaya welcomes the children of the commoners under civil seats. However, scholarship schemes are sketched for merely the children of the Nepalese Army. Moreover, the children of those brave soldiers who got martyrdom, during Maoist insurgency also get special scholarship besides the general facilities. They are categorized under casualty seats.
The Mahavidyalaya is able to set up its own dignity and position in the educational heritage of not only Eastern Region, but also across the country. The first and second batch SLC results, outstanding performance in ECA, and students' contribution in social services has given a new height to the Mahavidyalaya.

The Mahavidyalaya welcomes its parents, students, well-wishers and others to move ahead hand in hand. Constructive suggestions for the betterment of the Mahavidyalaya are ever whole-heartlessly considered.

(2) Establishment, Introduction of Kalibaksh Battalion (E). Initially, Shree Kalibaksh Battalion was established as a company in September 1762 and is one of the 5 companies established by King Prithivi Narayan Shah. It was provided with the weapons that were captured after conquering Sindhulikot. The battalion is recognized as the second senior most battalion of the Nepalese Army though it was established on the same day as Shree Shreenath Battalion; the reason being Shree Shreenath Battalion's affinity with Gorakhnath and Shree Kalibaksh Battalion with Bhagwati (Goddess). Since its existence as a company, it has justified its worth by getting actively involved in various battles and the unification campaign of Nepal (Please refer to "Contribution in different wars" for more details). The primary responsibility of this battalion is to undertake various construction and demolition tasks under combat conditions in order to facilitate movement and support of friendly forces while impeding that of the enemy. This battalion consists of combat engineers who are capable of undertaking tasks like field fortification, bunker construction, constructing and breaching trenches, road and bridge construction or demolition, laying or breaching minefields and other physical works in the battlefield. Being a Combat Engineer battalion, the individuals of this battalion are also trained as infantrymen and have a secondary role fighting as infantry. Currently this battalion has been undertaking the role of Division Support Element. It provides support to the Division and it's under command by providing skilled tradesmen (Electrician, Plumber, Painter, Bricklayer, Welder, Carpenter, Surveyor, Draughtsman and Plant Operator) and plays an important role in producing them. Besides, the battalion has also deployed trained and skilled Bomb Disposal Squad at several places within the Division's Area of Responsibility for safe disposal of the explosive ordnance to minimize the loss of life and property in order to maintain peace and security.
