Shaykh Mazhar Airbase

Shaykh Mazhar Airbase is located approximately 46 kilometers Southwest of Baghdad, and about 13 kilometers West of the city of As Suwayrah. The airbase is served by a 11,300 foot long runway, and one parallel taxiway that could be used as emergency landing strip. This Iraqi military facility reportedly is an unoccupied airfield with one 3,650 m runway under construction. There are at least 8 hardened aircraft shelters visable in the 1995 CIB imagery.
