Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are negotiating the supply of Russian Su-35 fighters, the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov said at the Dubai Airshow -2015 aerospace show. According to him, the latest multifunctional fighters are in great demand abroad. “Russian aviation equipment, in particular Su-35 fighters, is in great demand. We also represent it here (in Dubai), but not in full-scale form, - said Chemezov. "We are currently negotiating with the UAE to supply this fighter here."
The United Arab Emirates signed an agreement with Russia on the intention to purchase Russian Su-35 fighters, said in February 2017 the head of the Rostec state corporation Sergei Chemezov. “We signed an agreement of intent to purchase Su-35 aircraft,” he said. At the end of 2015, Chemezov reported that the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates are negotiating the supply of the Su-35. Russia is negotiating with the UAE on the supply of several dozen Su-35 aircraft, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said in April 2017. “Yes, such negotiations are underway, but you understand, when we are talking about several dozen aircraft, this cannot be implemented quickly,” the minister said. "We ensure that technical documentation is passed on so that colleagues can finally assess their needs." Manturov added that in the near future the UAE authorities should voice their reaction to the proposal.
By the end of 2017, a contract for the supply of Su-35 fighters to the United Arab Emirates may be signed, press secretary of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Maria Vorobyova said in August 2017. “Negotiations on the supply of the Su-35 in the interests of the UAE are proceeding as planned. Subject to their successful implementation, the signing of the contract is possible by the end of 2017, ”said Vorobyova.
The United Arab Emirates intends to buy more than a squadron of Su-35 fighters from Russia, the contract may be signed before the end of the year, a source in the military-technical cooperation system said in October 2017. "They want a lot, more squadrons, but the exact number will be determined during negotiations, which may take place in November during an aviation exhibition in Dubai," the source said. He clarified that in case of successful completion of negotiations, the contract can be signed by the end of 2017.
