132 Wing / 132 Luftving

The operative unit at Bodø received the name 132. Wing. A name in which it has received from 132 Norwegian Wing, which was a Norwegian fighter wing during the Second World War. The core of 132 (N) Wing was the Norwegian fighter squadrons, 331- and 332 squadron. Today, 132 Wing consists of 331- and 332 squadron, both set up with F-16, an air defence batallion (which is set up with NASAMS rocket air defence) as well as base defence force 2, which maintain the operative function of taking care of Security, ABC, medical assistance and explosive ordnance disposal. 132. Wing's main task is to train and exercise the operative warring elements till they are ready for combat. When they are ready for combat, then the force command is transferred on order to the operative commander. 132 Wing also has been appointed a special task, which is to keep 2 F-16's on 24 hour readiness. This quick reaction force is by any given circumstance under NATO command.
