PLA 43rd Army
The predecessor of the 43rd Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was the 6th Column of the Northeast Field Army. The predecessor of this column was Sun Yat-sen's iron armored car team and the "Yeting Independent Regiment" during the Northern Expedition. In 1927, it participated in the "8 August" Nanchang Uprising. Later, it was led by Zhu De and Chen Yi to Jinggangshan, and joined the division of the autumn harvest uprising led by Mao Zedong. Formed the 4th Army of the Workers and Peasants Revolutionary Army (later renamed the Red 4th Army). In June 1933, it was organized as the 2nd Division of the 1st Regiment of the 1st Front Army of the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army, under its jurisdiction of the 4th, 5th and 6th Regiments. Participated in the 1st to 5th anti-encirclement and suppression operations in the Central Soviet Area. In the long march of 25,000 miles, the Red 2nd Division was one of the avant-garde divisions, forcibly crossing the Wujiang River, outsmarting Zunyi, flying over the Luding Bridge, breaking through the Tianzi Lazikou, and successfully completing the mission of opening the road given by the CRC.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the Red 2 Division was reorganized into the 685th Regiment of the 343rd Brigade of the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army, and went to the front line of the Anti-Japanese War in North China. At the end of 1938, eastward into the border area of Suluyu, renamed the Suluyu Detachment of the Eighth Route Army. In August 1940, it was organized as the 1st detachment of the 5th Column of the Eighth Route Army and went south to Central China to reinforce the New Fourth Army. In November, it was changed to the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army to teach the 1st Brigade. In January 1941, after the South Anhui Incident, it was changed to the 7th Brigade of the 3rd Division of the New Fourth Army and moved to the two Huaihe areas in northern Jiangsu. After the surrender of Japan, the 7th Brigade of the 3rd Division was ordered to advance into the Northeast.
The predecessor of the other part was the anti-Japanese armed forces of Ludong and Jilubian led by the party after the July 7th Incident, and later developed into troops of the Qinghe Military Region and Jilubian Military Region. In 1944, the two military region forces merged into the Bohai Naval Region. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the main force of the military region formed 6 regiments and went to the northeast. They were co-edited with a part of Jidong armed forces as the 7th Division of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army, which governed the 19th, 20th and 21st brigades.
The two parts mentioned above were based on the strategic deployment of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to the Northeast and strive to control the Northeast. After arriving in the Northeast, they participated in the Shanhaiguan Defensive War, the Xiushuihezi Destruction War, and the Changchun Liberation War. In April 1946, it participated in the Siping Defence War and gave the Kuomintang Army one of the "Five Main Forces" a major blow.
In October 1946, the 7th Brigade of the 3rd Division and the 7th Division were combined into the 6th Column of the Northeast Democratic Coalition. Chen Guang served as commander, Yang Guofu served as deputy commander, Liu Qiren served as deputy political commissar, Yan Jiesan served as chief of staff, Xu Binzhou Director of the Political Department. The 7th Brigade of the 3rd Division was changed to the 16th Division, the 20th Brigade and the 19th Brigade of the 7th Division were designated as the 17th Division, and the 21st Brigade of the 7th Division was changed to the 18th Division. There were more than 23,000 people in the column. From January to mid-March 1947, it participated in the "Three Downs to the South of the River" (south of the Songhua River) to seek out the scattered and isolated enemies in front of him, and cooperated with the army's "Four Baolin River" operations. From May 1947 to the spring of the following year, it participated in three offensive operations in Northeast China in summer, autumn and winter, and conquered Liaoyang and Anshan.
In January 1948, the 6th column of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army was renamed the 6th column of the Northeast People's Liberation Army. In May 1948, Changchun was attacked and besieged. In September, participated in the battle of Liaoshen, the 17th Division participated in the Jinzhou battle, served as the general reserve team, and attacked Fan Hanjie's "General Chief" command post and the Corps headquarters. The main 16th and 18th divisions of the column were inserted into the Lijia shack to the east of Dahu Mountain to cut off the retreat of the enemy troops from Shenyang to the east, creating favorable conditions for destroying the 5 troops of the Liao Yaoxiang Corps in western Liaoning. In the battle of Liaoshen, the 6th column wiped out more than 36,000 enemies.
After the liberation of the Northeast, the 6th column was reorganized in the Heishan region of Liaoning. In November 1948, it was renamed the 43rd Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army under the order of the Central Military Commission on the unification of the entire army and the number of troops. Hong Xuezhi served as military commander, Lai Chuanzhu served as political commissar, Yang Guofu and Li Zuopeng served as deputy military commanders, Liu Qiren served as deputy political commissar, Lei Zhen served as chief of staff, and Deng Fei served as director of the political department. The 16th Division was renamed as the 127th Division, Li Zuopeng and Division Chief, Zhang Chiming was appointed Political Committee; the 17th Division was renamed as the 128th Division, Long Shujin was appointed as the division, Xu Binzhou was the Political Committee; the 18th Division was renamed as the 129th Division, Yan Jie Three commanders, Yuan Shengli served as political commissar. The former independent 6th Division of the Northeast Military Region was transferred to the military system and renamed the 156th Division. Deng Keming served as the division commander and Zhong Ren was a political commissar.
There were more than 63,000 people in the army. Entered the customs in late November to participate in the Pingjin Campaign. In late February 1949, the 43rd Army was instructed to advance south, and entered the Huang'an (now Hong'an) area north of Wuhan in early April to contain the Kuomintang Army's Bai Chongxi Group and plan the Second and Third Field Army to cross the river. On May 14, the army crossed the Yangtze River from the regiment to Tianjiazhen section, liberated the vast areas of southern Hubei and northern Jiangxi, and opened the way for the fourth field army to head south. Participated in the battle of Xiang and Jiang in July.
Afterwards, a two-month rest was carried out in Yichun, Jiangxi. Continue to advance south in mid-September, cross the Meiling Pass and enter Guangdong; on October 14, together with the comrades, liberate Guangzhou, the largest city in southern China. In mid-November, it was ordered to go westward from Guangzhou to participate in the Guangxi pursuit. It first wiped out the 11th Corps of the enemy in Beiliu, etc., and killed Hu Ruoyu, deputy commander of the enemy regiment, and then attacked Bobai with a quick and bold action. Defeated the commanding post of the 3rd Corps of the enemy, and captured Zhang Gan, deputy chief of the Central Military and Political Office of the enemy and commander of the 3rd Corps. In late December, it went to Leizhou Peninsula to participate in the combat mission of liberating Hainan Island. From March to May 1950, the army used wooden boats as a ferry tool to break through the enemy's "three-dimensional defense" formed by the army, navy and air force, and liberated Hainan Island with the cooperation of friendly forces.
On July 5, 1952, the 43rd Army merged with the Hainan Military Region to form the Hainan Military Region and the 43rd Army. In October, the 132nd Division of the 44th Army was transferred to the 43rd Army. In November 1952, the 129th Division Division and the Hainan Island Base jointly established the Naval Xiying Base (now Zhanjiang Base). In August 1961, the number of the 43rd Army was revoked, and the troops were changed to the Hainan Military Region. In September 1968, the 43rd Army was reconstructed, under the jurisdiction of the 127th Division, 128th Division, and 220th Division (renamed 129th Division on September 18, 1969), and adjusted to Guilin, Guangxi. On October 17, 1969, it moved to Luoyang, Henan, and returned to the leadership of the Wuhan Military Region (the 129th Division stayed in Guiyang, "Zuo Zuo", and was built in January 1973). In October 1985, the 43rd Army was cancelled again, and the 127th Division was changed to the 54th Army, the 128th Division was changed to the 20th Army in 1985, and in 1996 it was changed to the Armed Police Mobile Division. The 129th Division was withdrawn.
