AN/TSQ-201 Theater Air Control Communications Module (TACCM)
The Theater Air Control Communications Module (TACCM) is comprised of a circuit switch and a systems control facility in an S-788, HMMWV mounted shelter. The circuit switch installed in the TACCM is the Compact Digital Switch (CDS), sometimes referred to as the AN/TTC-39E. The CDS is functionally similar to the TTC-39A(V)4 and operates on the same version of software, although there are some differences in hardware. The TACCM has the same version of software, although there are some differences in hardware. The TACCM has the capability to run only 10 Digital Transmission Groups (DTGs), of which two are reserved for use with CV-4201 Line Termination Units mounted inside the shelter. Also included with the TACCM are two TD-1234 Remote Multiplexer Combiners (RMCs) mounted in the shelter, and two additional LTUs which can be connected externally.
The LTU is the only method of terminating loops and trunks to the TACCM. LTUs can be added to provide as many circuits as required, although each LTU requires a 36 channel DTG. As with the 39 van, all types of circuits can be terminated with the LTU. The circuit card assemblies are common to both the LTU and the 39 van. The systems control facility includes a loop patch panel with 16 hoc connectors of 24 pairs each, and a DTG patch panel with separate appearances for red data, black data, red clock, and black clock. Two FCC-100(V)1 multiplexers are mounted in the shelter, and will eventually be upgraded to the FCC-100(V)6. Test equipment in the shelter includes an analog test set, a digital transmission test set, and an oscilloscope. The TACCM also has a remote operator position and uses a laptop computer for the operator interface. The type of circuits used (i.e. STU-III, DSN, DSVT) is dependent on the availability of circuit cards for each type. The TACCM has COMSEC capability for loop and group encryption, and can function as a COMSEC parent switch.
