Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Eleven
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Mobile Unit ELEVEN provides EOD combat support for location, identification, rendering safe, recovery, field evaluation and disposal of all explosive ordnance including chemical and nuclear weapons, up to the high water mark of coastal and inland water areas in the Pacific Fleet Area of Responsibility. EOD Detachments will: forward deploy with the Carrier Battle Group aboard Carrier Vessels, conduct Harbor Defense/Port Security operations; perform Humanitarian Demining operations; engage in "Assigned" Mine Countermeasure operations; respond to area Naval activities, respond to requests by the United States Secret Service for protection missions for the President of the United States, Vice President and visiting heads of state; participate in research and development projects; and provide diving and demolition services as required.
EODMU ELEVEN is located at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (Seaplane Base), Oak Harbor Washington. The command is comprised of Mobile detachments and a command cadre that provide EOD forces support to various operational commanders in the U. S. Pacific Fleet. EODMU11 shore detachments Det Northwest, Det Bangor and Det Fallon support regional Navy Commanders.
