Bushehr - Cooling Water Channel and Harbor

Located South of the reactor facilities, this concrete channel is used to expell water from the reactors and the sewer system to the Gulf. In the German design circulating water is supplied through intake culverts and mechanical purification plants to the pumps and then is discharged by them to the condensers. Each unit at Biblis has a concrete culvert in which water flows back to its source (the Rhine) and a weir is present for the addition of oxygen. Water appears to be present in the ditch in the 1996 2-meter Spin image and the Ikonos imagery appears to show evidence of water having been present reletively recently.

To the right of the channel is the larger of two small harbors located at the Bushehr site. Three unidentified missile patrol boats are docked on the south quay.
