Iran, Syria call for formation of fact-finding committee on Khan Sheikhoun attack
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, April 11, IRNA -- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and the Syrian Defense Minister Fahd Jassem al-Freij called for establishment of a fact-finding committee to probe into the Khan Sheikhoun chemical attack in Idlib province.
Washington alleges that the Khan Sheikhoun attack has been conducted by the Syrian Army against its own people, a claim strongly rejected by Damascus.
Dehqan and al-Freij , in a telephone conversation on Tuesday, called for more coordination between Iran and Syria to intensify the military operation against terrorists.
Referring to the US attack against a Syrian airfield, the Iranian and Syrian defense ministers underlined that such actions will not have any effects on the will and determination of the resistance front in its fight against terrorists.
A Syrian airfield was attacked by the US missiles under the pretext of the use of chemical weapons allegedly by Bashar Assad's government against its own people, a claim dismissed by Damascus.
It was the first US direct assault on Syrian fortifications on Friday as a result of which some 59 missiles were fired on Shayrat air base in Homs Province in Syria.
The missile attack was conducted without the UN Security Council and the US Congress consent.
