Third, the ROK pledges to play an active role in pursuing the resolution of the issue. |
The South Korean government has through inter-Korean dialogue urged the North to pursue a peaceful resolution.

Through various channels for inter-Korean dialogue, including the Inter-Korean Ministerial Talks, South Korea has urged the North to implement the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. |

The two Koreas have agreed to resolve the issue peacefully through dialogue. |
The Korean government is cooperating closely with the international
community.

Through summit meetings between the ROK and the US (May 15, 2003), the ROK and Japan (June 8, 2003), and the ROK and China (July 7, 2003), Korea and the concerned countries have pledged cooperation in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue peacefully. |
The Six-Party Dialogue has begun.

Due in part to the efforts of the ROK to persuade North Korea through inter-Korean dialogue and through its diplomatic efforts, the Six-Party Talks, involving the participation of the ROK, North Korea, the United States, Japan, China, and Russia, were held in Beijing on August 27-29, 2003. |

The Second Round of Six-Party Talks was held in Beijing on February 25-28, 2004.
