South and North Korea held their third working-level contact on shipping cooperation in Munsan (South Korea) on October 11-12. The two sides discussed practical matters concerning inter-Korean cooperation in shipping pursuant to the basic spirit of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration.
They both acknowledged the significance of coming into force of the "South-North Shipping Agreement” and the implementation annex they adopted. After a series of consultations, they were able to reach agreement on a number of issues.
Based on the details discussed at the contact, they agreed to continue discussions on such issues as sea routes and communication guarantees. They also agreed to set the time and place of the fourth Inter-Korean working-level contact on shipping cooperation by exchanging documents.
