U.S. to supply modern warplanes to Pakistan
MOSCOW, May 8 (RIA Novosti) - The United States will supply Islamabad with modern warplanes by June to intensify the fight against militants in Pakistan's tribal regions, Press TV reported on Saturday.
It said the assurance had come from U.S. officials at a bilateral security cooperation working group meeting in Rawalpindi on Friday.
The warplanes include F-16 fighter jets, the Lockheed P3C maritime surveillance aircraft, and Cobra helicopters, as well as the Oliver Hazard frigate.
Military officials also pledged to upgrade the level of intelligence exchanges between the two countries.
