Foreign Minister of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki discussed major regional developments particularly Iraq-Turkey border tensions in a meeting here Monday with his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Mouallem.

Mottaki arrived here earlier in the day heading a delegation to discuss issues of mutual interest with senior Syrian officials.

A member of the Iranian delegation told IRNA at the end of the meeting that the two FMs also exchanged views on the political crisis in Lebanon and the issue of Palestine.

He refused to provide more details about Mottaki-Mouallem meeting at the end of which the Iranian minister rushed to the Syrian Presidential Palace for a visit with President Bashar al-Assad.

A meeting with Syrian Vice-President Farouq al-Shara which was also part of Mottaki's agenda for his day-long visit, was cancelled for "some reasons," the member of the Iranian delegation said. He did not elaborate further.
