| April 8, 2003 Release Number: 03-04-81 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BOMBING IN AL MANSOUR TARGETED IRAQI LEADERSHIP OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM - A U.S. Air Force B-1B bomber used precision-guided munitions Monday to strike a suspected meeting of senior Iraqi regime leaders in the al Mansour section of Baghdad, Iraq. The strike, using four 2,000-pound Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs), took place at 2 p.m. Qatar time (7 a.m. EST). Battle damage assessment is ongoing. Coalition forces target only legitimate military targets and go to great lengths to minimize civilian casualties and damage to civilian facilities. |
