| June 5, 2003 Release Number: 03-06-18 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEVERAL IRAQIS WOUNDED IN ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE CAMP DOHA, Kuwait -- A U.S. soldier injured four Iraqis when he unintentionally discharged several rounds (exact count unknown) from his M-240 medium machine gun while picking the weapon up in Baghdad Wednesday afternoon. The four victims were struck in the legs, and one also received a grazing wound to the ear. All were evacuated to an Iraqi hospital for treatment of their injuries, which were not life threatening. The unit commander is conducting an investigation. -30- |
