| May 19, 2003 Release Number: 03-05-67 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE U.S. SOLDIER, IRAQI CITIZEN KILLED IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT CAMP DOHA, Kuwait - A U.S. soldier and an Iraqi citizen were killed Monday afternoon in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 8 near Safwan, Iraq. Two High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) and one civilian truck were involved in the accident. Two soldiers who were injured in the accident were evacuated to a field hospital for treatment of their injuries. The soldiers' names and units are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. The cause of the accident is under investigation. |
