| May 13, 2003 Release Number: 03-05-43 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE STATUS REPORT ON COALITION ACTIONS AGAINST THE MAJOHEDEEN-E-KHALQ BAGHDAD, IRAQ --- Mojahedeen-e-Khalq forces inside Iraq -- also known as the Peoples Mojahedeen Organization of Iran (MEK/PMOI) - are coming under the military control of Coalition Forces, and they are completely disarming. The MEK/PMOI have left their border checkpoints and they are complying fully with Coalition instructions and directives. The MEK/PMOI have committed to abide by all further Coalition instructions, they will be treated in accordance with the Geneva Convention, and they will be thoroughly screened. The MEK/PMOI are consolidating their weapons and personnel to separate holding areas under close control of Coalition forces. The process of consolidating all weapons and personnel of the MEK/PMOI at separate sites designated by the Coalition continues in an orderly and peaceful manner under close control of Coalition forces. Coalition forces will continue military operations against armed groups, terrorists and other individuals who pose a threat or challenge to the efforts of the Coalition to provide security for the people of Iraq. |
