Iran's top general says the country's strategic naval forces are prepared to give a "firm and regret-inducing" response to any possible act of aggression by enemies.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi made the remarks on Thursday in a message on the occasion of the Iranian Navy Day.

He said the naval forces have defended national sovereignty and safeguarded the country's maritime borders since the very first days of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

He hailed the forces' "purposeful and honorable" presence in the high seas and distant maritime regions worldwide to protect national interests, adding that their epic and lasting role will be etched in Iran's history.

Mousavi emphasized that the strategic naval forces have proven their complete operational readiness in recent confrontations, particularly after the 12-day imposed war by the US and Israel in June, when they proved their ability to deliver a "decisive, effective and regret-inducing" response to any act of aggression or violation.

On June 13, Israel launched an unprovoked war against Iran, assassinating many high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.

More than a week later, the United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.

On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the illegal assault.

Gen. Mousavi further added that Iran's ability to safeguard sustainable security in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the country's territorial waters is the result of constructive interaction and synergy between the Army's naval forces and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy.

Such a strategic approach has created a powerful model of intelligent deterrence against extra-regional threats, he pointed out.

He noted that naval forces also play an active and influential role in science, education, modern technologies, and maritime diplomacy.

The Iranian Navy's comprehensive presence demonstrates its great capability to turn threats into opportunities and open new horizons for the country, Mousavi emphasized.
