Supreme Leader urges elimination of nuclear arms

Tehran, Feb 16, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said here on Saturday that Iran believes nuclear arms should be eliminated.
Stressing that Iran never sought to produce nuclear arms, the Ayatollah stressed had Iran ever wanted to produce nuclear arms, no power could have stopped it from doing so.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with a large group of people from the northwestern city of Tabriz in East Azarbaijan province on the occasion of the uprising of the Azari people against the toppled regime of Shah in 1977.
Ayatollah Khemeni also referred to the massive turnout of people in the Islamic Revolution victory anniversary rallies this year and said that the existing economic problems were no reason for the nation to feel the slightest gap between itself and the Islamic system.
The Supreme Leader, in his address, also commented on such issues as the US talks with Iran as well as a number of domestic issues.
