IAEA spokesman says board agrees to Iran`s signing of NPT protocol
IRNA
Vienna, Nov 21, IRNA -- Spokesman of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Melissa Fleming said here on Friday that the IAEA board of governors have agreed to conclusion of the additional protocol of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) by Iran. Fleming made the remark in an interview with reporters on sidelines of the IAEA board meeting. Based on the IAEA norms, a country officially informs the IAEA Chief of its agreement to sign up to a treaty and then the Agency`s board is informed of the decision. The board in turn raises its view on the issue later. An Iranian diplomat told IRNA here on Friday that the timing of the treaty`s conclusion by Iran will be set later. Talks on Iran`s case have reportedly been postponed to Wednesday due to prolongation of talks and in a bid to let board members close their stances. 216/NA/210
