Rodong Shinmun, the official newspaper of the Korea Workers' Party, issued an editorial on November 30, in which it said that "the military forces and the people of the North will uphold the banner of military-first policy under the leadership of compatriot Kim Jong-Il, to build a great and powerful nation. The military-first policy will bring us absolute victory by helping us strengthen independent defense capabilities to safeguard the struggle to build a powerful nation based on force." |
International Issues

North Korean Red Cross issued a statement on November 26 that "Japan's remarks that the fourth hometown visits of the Japanese women living in North Korea cannot take place, is an attempt to use humanitarian issues for political gain." |

In its December 1 commentary, Rodong Shinmun said that "Bush's orders to the U.S. special forces to destroy weapons supply lines in North Korea, Iran and Iraq are tantamount to a declaration of war, and a prelude for preemptive strikes against us." |

Central Broadcasting Station reported November 27 that "Korean Democratic Lawyers Association and Korean Students Committee respectively issued statements on November 26, condemning the not-guilty verdict for the U.S. 8th Army servicemen on the charges of running over two schoolgirls." |

Rodong Shinmun falsely claimed on November 29 that, "it is the U.S. which is responsible for the suspension of the de-mining operations and reconnection of cross-border railways and roads. However, some South Korean media organizations are spreading false reports to shift the blame on us." |

In its November 30 commentary, Rodong Shinmun made a groundless accusation against the South Korean legal authorities, saying, "they have punished college students who have been making efforts to obtain formal apologies from the U.S. government and punish those responsible for the murder of the schoolgirls. This is outrageous behavior that reveals their subservient attitudes towards the U.S. and their fascist nature." |
