Accompanied by party secretaries and military officials, Kim Jong-Il gave on-site guidance to the June 4 Rolling Stock Works and Kumkang Engine Plant on October 21; Korea People's Army Unit 507 on October 22; Unit 549 on October 22; Nakwon Machinery Complex on October 24; and Changseong County on October 25.

The North Korean Central Broadcasting Station reported that "the 48th plenary meeting of the Korean General Occupation League was held in Pyongyang on October 22. It was chaired by the League's chairman Yom Soon-Gil and was attended by members of the League's Central Committee and its candidate members."

International Issues

On the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the signing of the DPRK-US Agreed Framework, Pyongyang Broadcasting Station asserted: "if the U.S. wishes to maintain the DPRK-US Agreed Framework and improve relations with us, it must first renounce its hostile policy towards us and demonstrate in action, its willingness to compensate for the electricity losses resulting from the delays in the Light-Water Reactor construction."

The North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a briefing that "if the U.S. signs a non-aggression pact to firmly pledge against making war and using nuclear weapons against us, we are ready to work towards addressing the U.S.'s security concerns."

Inter-Korean Issues

The North Korean Central Broadcasting Station reported that "Kim Yong-Nam, the Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly Presidium, met with the Southern delegation to the 8th North-South senior-level talks held in Pyongyang from October 19 to October 22 in an atmosphere of compatriotic love."

The North Korean Central Broadcasting Station reported that "the Korea Taewondo Committee's demonstration team powerfully demonstrated the gracefulness of the martial art Taekwondo martial in Seoul on October 24, before an audience of South Korean Taekwondo officials and brethren."
