Responding to the remarks related to China in a joint statement issued after the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday that the document once again ignored facts, distorted right and wrong, and deliberately smeared China while grossly interfering in China's internal affairs.

China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposes it, Lin said, stressing that the Taiwan question is purely an internal affair for China, and how it is resolved is a matter for the Chinese people alone, brooking no external interference.

Lin said the situation in the East China Sea and South China Sea remains generally stable, and urged the G7 to stop stirring up disputes, heightening tensions, and undermining regional peace under the pretext of maritime issues.

He emphasized that China has been open and aboveboard regarding the Ukraine crisis, has never provided lethal weapons to any party in the conflict, strictly controls dual-use items, and will never accept the G7's attempts to shift blame or label China.

On peace and security, Lin said China has the best record among major countries, follows a path of peaceful development, pursues a defensive national defense policy, and maintains its nuclear capabilities at the minimum level required for national security.

He noted that the G7 avoids discussing the US' "special and primary responsibility" in nuclear disarmament and the proliferation risks posed by the AUKUS partnership, while pointing fingers at China - this is a typical case of confusing right and wrong.

Lin added that China's efforts to refine and improve its export-control system are in line with international practice and aimed at better safeguarding world peace, regional stability and fulfilling international obligations.

He said claims of "China's overcapacity" or "non-market practices" have been disproven by facts and are not worth refuting. Lin urged the G7 to recognize global trends, abandon Cold War mentality and ideological bias, stop manipulating China-related issues and interfering in China's internal affairs, and focus on actions that contribute to international solidarity and cooperation.
