731st Munitions Support Squadron [731st MUNSS]
The 731st MUNSS inactivated on 11 May 2001.
The 731st Munitions Support Squadron was originally activated as the 7061th Munitions Support Squadron (MUNSS) on 1 April 1972.
As a result of USAF reorganizations, the 7061th MUNSS was redesignated as the 761th MUNSS effective 1 June 1993, the 716th MUNSS effective 1 July 1994, and the 731th MUNSS effective 19 July 1995.
As of March 31, 1998, the [then] 716th MUNSS was located on the Ionian Sea coast approximately 20 miles from Patras, Greece's third largest city, and approximately 600 miles from Aviano AB, ITaly. The squadron totaled about 125 people.
The squadron's mission was to serve as custodian of assigned munitions, and support the Hellenic 116th Combat Wing in the performance of the joint NATO mission.
An Air Force military mission at Araxos was first established on 14 July 1962.
