 | Reliable | After 9-11, Omar al-Farouq was considered al-Qaeda's point man in southeast Asia. Detained by Indonesian authorities on June 5, 2002, on immigration violations. He escaped from a U.S. detention facility in Bagram, Afghanistan, on July 11, 2005. He made his way to Basra, Iraq. On Sept. 25, 2006, 250 soldiers with the United Kingdom's Princess of Wales Royal Regiment located and killed him during a firefight at his residence in a pre-dawn raid.1,2 |
