  • Jamal al Badawi served as a facilitator in the USS Cole bombing, locating the bomb boat and a private residence in Aden, Yemen, where the boat could be constructed.
  • Badawi has twice escaped from a Yemeni prison after being detained in connection with the Cole bombing, first in April 2003. He was recaptured in March 2004, then escaped again on Feb. 3, 2006.
  • As of 2006, the U.S. government is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his capture.1,2
