 | Reliable | Ahmed Ressam was part of a cell of Algerians trained in Afghanistan in 1998 to conduct attacks on an U.S. airport or consulate. Most of his colleagues were unable to enter Canada from Europe, but Ressam proceeded with a plot to bomb Los Angeles International Airport on Jan. 1, 2000. He was arrested while trying to enter the United States at Port Angeles, while getting off a ferry from Victoria, Canada. Bomb components were discovered in his car. The Federal Bureau of Prisons projects his release in 2019. His prisoner number is 29638-086.1,2 |
