Chung Cheng (Ashland/Cabildo class) dock landing ship
The Ashland-class Dock Landing Ship USS White Marsh (LSD-8) was commissioned on 29 January 1944, and decommissioned in March 1946. Recommissioned from 8 November 1950 through September 1956, the ship was transferred on loan to Taiwan in November 1960. Renamed Chung Cheng (LSD-191), she was permanently transferred to Taiwan effective 01 January 1977. Obsolete and worn out, she and her sister "Tsoying" (ex LSD-22 Fort Marion, sold to Taiwan in 1960) were replaced by two two Newport class LSTs and ex-Newport class LSTs in 1998, and the Hsuhai-class [Anchorage] Landing Ship Tank in 2000.
