Service Support Battalion, 8th Infantry Division
Service Support Company, 8th Infantry Brigade (Separate)

The unit was first activated as Service Support Company on 16 June 1986, pursuant to General Order Number 123, Headquarters, Philippine Army dated 27 May 1986. It was assigned as an organic unit of the 8th Infantry Brigade (Separate), then based at Barangay Santol, San Miguel, Leyte. Personnel and equipment came from the 3rd Infantry Division.

On 23 October 1987, the unit, along with the rest of the 8th Infantry Brigade (Separate), moved to Camp Lukban, Maulong, Catbalogan, Western Samar. As the 8th Infantry Brigade Separate was upgraded to a full division, the unit was subsequently upgraded and redesignated as the Service Support Battalion on 2 August 1988 pursuant to Gernal Order Number 71, General Headquarters, AFP.
